GRIFFIN Dorothy "Dot" Yarbrough Godwin Griffin, 81, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at her residence after a long illness. Born in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Willie B. Yarbrough and Mary A. Howard Yarbrough. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Campbell Soup Co. with 20 years of service. Surviving are two sons, Larry W. Godwin and wife Janice of Columbia, and Steve E. Godwin and wife Janet of Auburn, Ga.; three daughters, Barbara G. Kanach of Brandon, Fla., Jilda L. Godwin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Janet G. Whitaker of Sumter; three brothers, Van Yarbrough of Columbia, Jerry Yarbrough of Manning, and Frank Yarbrough of Sumter; one sister, Anne McDonald of Sumter; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Yarbrough; and two sisters, Lena Lucas and Dixie Lee Turner. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4 York Court. Memorials may be made to Northside Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1004 N. Main St., Sumter, SC 29153.
