| HIST | Is this James Olin Peebles whose wife’s obituary follows? jkh Gloria Alice Fountain Peebles Gloria Alice Fountain Peebles COLUMBIA - Gloria Alice Fountain Peebles, 82, widow of James Olin Peebles, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, in Providence Hospital. Born in Timmonsville, she was a daughter of the late Charles William Fountain and Elise Nora Rogers Fountain. Mrs. Peebles had retired as a bookkeeper with Sox & Sons Construction Company. Surviving are three sons, Michael James Peebles (Kathryn) of Summerville, Charles Mason Peebles (Cynthia) of Columbia, and Steven Olin Peebles (Sandy) of Elgin; one sister, Sandra Hudson of Timmonsville; two brothers, Charles Byrd Fountain of Lamar, and Roger Fountain of Hartsville; her longtime companion, R.P. Byrd of Columbia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Bramlette, and a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Peebles. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure , P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
