He signed up to serve until 8 Apr 1862 and was made First Sergeant. The company’s first muster was on 27 Jun 1861 in Ridgeville, South Carolina. On 12 Jul 1861 it was organized as Company C of the 9th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry. H. L. McIntosh appears on the following Company C Musters: June and August, 1861 - Camped near Germantown. September and October, 1861 - Camped near McLeans Ford. November and December, 1861 - at Centreville.  [3]
