Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family. Mrs. Smyre, widow of W. Carl Smyre, died Monday, May 19, 2008, in Marietta, Ga. Born in Dalzell, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lorena and Clyde Weldon Jones. Retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co., she was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, WELCA and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William C. Smyre Jr. and Barbara of Marietta; granddaughters, Bonnie and Holly Smyre; sisters, Lena Hill and Allene Compton, both of Sumter, and Frances Henry of Maryland; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles L. Jones, and a sister, Hazel Terrar.
