| HIST | of Manning, South Carolina ELLIS LANE JR. Posted Thursday, November 8, 2018 6:00 am MANNING - Ellis Lane Jr., 75, died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 25, 1943, in Walterboro, he was a son of the late George Ellis Lane Sr. and Laura Nadine Crosby Lane Beach. He was the owner and operator of Ellis Lane Carpet and Floor Covering. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning. Affectionately known to his friends as "E.J.," Ellis adored his church, golf buddies and close friends. His family, especially his grandchildren, were the love of his life. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Lane Steiner (Tripp) of Columbia and Carrie Anna Lane Strange (Morgan) of Manning; a sister, Annie Heatley; a half-sister, Mary Lou Carnes; a half-brother, Henry Beach; three grandchildren, Chappell, Lane and Adelle Steiner; the mother of his children, Peggy Sue Richbourg Lane; special companion, Yana K. Mathis; and his loyal and beloved co-workers, Tommy Lee Parker, Tyronne Wright and Bo Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Marie Braxton; and a half-brother, Billy Haskell Beach. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Presbyterian Church at Manning with the Rev. Dr. George Wilkes officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at 1390 Lake Shore Drive, Manning. The family would like to thank Shannon Mims McCord, Dr. Raymon P. Weathersbee, died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland. Born on Sept. 21, 1954, in Austin, Texas, he was a son of the late retired U.S. Air Force Col. Charles Raymond "Ray" Weathersbee and Frances Eleanor Maffett Weathersbee. He was a graduate of Furman University and a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years; a daughter, Mary Beth Weathersbee; a granddaughter; a sister, Cindy Gasson (Steve) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith officiating.
