They married when Marie was 2 and she went by Goodwin thereafter. Annie never said the full name of Marie's father that anyone can remember only that his last name was Simmons. Bob was a farmer for many years - mainly strawberry fields, but at the last of his life he also was a mail carrier. I remember him going to the Ward post office, getting the big sack of mail, taking it to the train track and putting it on the "swinging arm" for the train to pick up on its way through town. He liked to fish, was tall, about 6 or 6'1", blueish eyes, gray hair by my time, thin and would put his cot under the Magnolia tree in the front yard and sleep there, day or night, until cold winter set in. He was a kind man that loved to play with his grandchildren - I remember him chasing us under the huge dining table and laughing with us. He and my granny came to West Palm Beach Fla once to visit us. My dad took a leave and went to Ark and got them for a months visit. They both liked the fresh fruit we had there and they would peel the grapefruit like an orange and eat it, or peal the membrane off and put it in a bowl, put a little salt on it and eat it that way. After only a week or so, Grandpa came in one morning, packed to leave. He had a dream the night before about a big wave coming over him - to him that mean he would die soon and he wasn't going to die anywhere but home! My dad had to do some fast arranging and got him to stay until the week-end then drove them home. My grandpa died the next week!
