| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Sarah and Carolyn are twins. Thomas J. Kirven Jr. Thomas Jackson Kirven Jr., 84, husband of Sarah Taylor Kirven, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his home. Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Thomas Jackson Sr. and Eva Chandler Kirven. Mr. Kirven was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the FaHoLo Sunday school class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired dairy farmer. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sisters, Julie Kirven Griffin of Parkton, N.C., and Laura Kirven Onsrud of Simpsonville; two brothers, Larry Kirven and Russell Kirven, both of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ophelia Kirven; and two brothers, Joseph Kirven and Donald M. Kirven. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Gorry officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the FaHoLo Project Fund at Trinity, 226 W. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150; to United Ministries of Sumter County, P.O.
