Peg Robinson HILTON HEAD ISLAND Peggy Anne McElveen Robinson, 69, passed away March 30, 2013, in Hilton Head Regional Medical Center with her family at her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1944, in Kingstree, SC, to the late Charles L. McElveen, Sr. and Florence Elaine Brown, she was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Columbia College. She was married to her lifetime love and husband of 49 years, Edward G. "E.G." Robinson III. Peg was a longtime resident of Hilton Head Island where she and "E.G." settled in 1968; they were the third permanent residents of Palmetto Dunes Resort where "E.G." worked as a developer. They are members of Williamsburg First Presbyterian Church of Kingstree, SC, and First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head Island. Peg was an amazing homemaker, and co-owner of Classic Consignments Fine Furniture and Antiques for over 20 years. Before starting her business, Peg was very influential in helping to build the Hilton Head Gator Youth football program and supporting May River Academy and Hilton Head Preparatory School fund raisers and Booster Clubs. In fact, Peg was awarded the 12th Man designation on the May River football team. She was also instrumental in planning and hosting the largest annual spring dance events during the Heritage Golf Classic known as the HHI Sun, Sand and Sea beach dance hosted by prominent families of the Island to promote local youth athletic programs. Peg loved her family and friends and she loved to dance. As a founding member of the HHI Shag club, she and "E.G." were often invited to perform shag exhibitions at local events. Peg was a founding member of the Palmetto Dunes Women's Organization and fondly supported the Parent's Group at Sea Pines Montessori School. She was well known for her participation in many charitable and fund-raising events with the Hilton Head Board of Realtors and Home Builders Association. In addition to "E.G.," Peg is survived by two sons, Edward G. Robinson IV, (Courtney) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and C. Gregory "Gregg" Robinson (Gina) of Orangeburg, SC; and grandsons, Edward G. Robinson V and John Radford Robinson. Other survivors include a brother, John D. McElveen (Martha); nieces and nephews, Charles L. McElveen III (Mary Beth), Douglas G. McElveen (Jennifer), Gary S. McElveen (Melinda), Martha Frances McElveen Witherspoon (Craig), John David McElveen (Kelle), Elizabeth Louise McElveen; and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles L. McElveen Jr. and his wife, Peggy. The immediate family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday May 25th, 2013, at the Sea Pines Country Club from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for a "Celebration of Peg's Life." Memorial gifts may be directed to The MUSC Foundation/Peggy Anne McElveen Robinson Memorial Fund at the Hollings Cancer Center, 18 Bee St., MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425.
