Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Robert Timmons and the late Sue Ella Fleming Timmons. Mrs. Britt attended Promise Land Ministries and was retired from Campbell's Soup Co. Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Beard of Sumter; one son, Ervin Grooms of Cross; four grandchildren, Cindy Davis, Cathy Grooms, Teresa Maxey and Brian Grooms; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Timmons and Robert Lee Timmons, both of Sumter; one sister, Etoail Dewitt of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Timmons and David Timmons; and one sister, Florence Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. James McElveen, Freddie Gaymon and William Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
