| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina MARGARET ENGLISH RODGERS Posted Saturday, February 6, 2021 2:00 am Margaret English Fields Rodgers, widow of Calvin R. Rodgers, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, in Cumming, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Elijah McIver and Annie Rembert Fields. Margaret was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and First Church of God. She was born in Lee County and had a passion for painting and was a genealogist at heart. She is survived by her son, Mark Smith (Terri) of Georgia; her daughter, Melanie Turner (Dennis) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Ericka Woods (Benjamin) of North Carolina, and Blake Stewart (Jennifer); sister, Anne Fields Boykin (Harry); step-grandchildren, Jordan Rodgers and Bryce Rodgers of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Anne-Elizabeth Margaret and Hank Woods, Braylon, Eleanor and Lincoln Stewart. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Reid Rodgers; sister, Linda Fields Hudson; and brother, Wayne McIver Fields. In keeping with Margaret's loving and generous spirit, she has donated her body to science for cancer research in hopes of saving the lives of future generations. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the First Church of God. Social distancing and masks will be required. For those who cannot attend, the service will be streamed live on YouTube (search Sumter FCG). Margaret will be laid to rest at a later date at Bethany Baptist Church beside her beloved husband.
