| HIST | of Mauldin, South Carolina of Sumter, South Carolina of Greenville, South Carolina ANN BAILEY REAMES Posted Wednesday, June 25, 2025 10:36 am Ann Bailey Reames, 84, widow of John Dalton Reames Sr., died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at home with her children by her side. Born March 1, 1941, in Sumter and reared in the St. Charles Community of Lee County, “God’s Country” as she called it, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Dwight Bailey and Ida Amerson Bailey. She was affectionately known as "Mama" by her children's friends from Griffin Street, high school and into adulthood. She always loved and welcomed them into her home. Family, laughter, fun, music, dancing and Clemson Tigers were her joy and passions. She never met a stranger and made life-long friends through every door she entered, thereby being dearly loved by many both near and far. Her adventurous spirit, wit, cheeky humor and loving, doting nature will be sorely missed by all who adore her. Survivors include two children, Dalton Reames and Teri Reames Griffin (Trey), both of Sumter; two grandsons, Aiden Griffin and Adair Griffin; one brother-in-law, Carlisle Reames of Chapin; one sister-in-law, Irene Lewis (Skip) of West Union; and one niece, Leslie Taylor. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dottie Reames; a nephew, Buddy Reames; and a niece, Kelley Reames. A celebration of her life will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Patriot Park Pavilion, 380 General Drive, Sumter. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Charles M. Butler, Dr. E.M. DuBose and the staffs of Amedisys Hospice, South Carolina Oncology Associates, Prisma Health Tuomey Radiation Oncology and Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium for the caring and compassionate services they provided Mrs. Reames and the family. Memorials may be sent to an animal rescue organization of one’s choice. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [2, 5, 6, 7] | |
