MAUDE GAYNELL GEDDINGS WEATHERLY Posted Saturday, February 11, 2023 6:00 am Maude Gaynell "Susie" Geddings Weatherly, 92, widow of E. Ervin Weatherly, died on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at NHC in Sumter. Born in Wedgefield, she was a daughter of the late Maude Moore Geddings and George LeGrande "Buck" Geddings. Mrs. Weatherly was a member of the Sumter First Church of God. She was twice married, first to the late Richard W. Ridgill of Sumter. Surviving are her two children, Bennie Ridgill and Jeanie Ridgill Jones (Thomas P.), both of Sumter; one stepson, Clark Weatherly of Myrtle Beach; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Vernell "Nunie" Lucas; four brothers, George Geddings, Thomas Geddings, Lee Geddings and Teddy Geddings; stepsons, Harwood Weatherly and Whitney Weatherly; and a stepdaughter, Linda Weatherly. Susie worked at Pioneer Dress "Pettibell," until it closed in the 1970's. She loved all of her friends at Pettibell and continued to meet with them twice a year at Golden Corral to reminisce and celebrate the "Good Ole Days." Susie Weatherly loved: Going - She never turned down an invite to go somewhere. People - She would talk to anyone, anytime, about anything. Wherever she was, she'd make a friend. Games - Rummy was her favorite. Baseball - She never missed an opportunity to go to a game (mainly to socialize). P-15 games were her favorite. But mainly, she loved her family. No one was more loyal, generous and forgiving of faults than "Grandma." Susie's main attribute was her honesty. You never had to ask her what she "really thought" because she always told you. She will be dearly missed and always remembered by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sumter First Church of God, 1835 Camden Highway, Sumter, SC 29153. Online condolences may be made at www.sumterfunerals.com. Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home & Crematory, 221 Broad St., Sumter, is in charge of the arrangements, (803) 775-9386. [1, 7, 8] | |
