| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina BARBARA WATFORD SHIRAH Posted Tuesday, August 18, 2020 6:00 am Barbara Watford Shirah, age 77, beloved wife of the late Jimmy Ashton Shirah Sr., died on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, at her residence. Born on Nov. 29, 1942, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James and Lillian Watford. Barbara loved the Lord and her church, Walker's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are five children, Jimmy Shirah Jr. and his wife, Gayle, Bobby Shirah and his wife, Phyllis, David Shirah, Betty Shirah and Sandy Conner, all of Sumter; one brother, Carol Watford of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Linda Nesbitt of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Hailee, Stefanie, Anthony, Ashley, Cody, J.J. and Andy; and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ashton, Kelsey, Jaydon, Destiny, Carter and Jasmine. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Calvin Nesbitt. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Florence National Cemetery.
