BOYLE Jr. EASLEY -- Charlie Rowland Boyle Jr., 79, widower of Joe Anne Foster Boyle, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Boyle was born in Sumter, a son of the late Charlie Rowland Sr. and Josephine Augusta Knight Boyle. He was retired from Triangle Construction Co., as a general contractor. He received Contractor of the Year Award from the Associated General Contractors of S.C. He was a former member of the Trian Club, Rotary Club, and was a former city councilman of Holden Beach, N.C. He was an avid golfer, longtime member of Sunset Country Club, and an avid Clemson fan. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Holden Beach Chapel. Survivors are two sons, Charlie Rowland "Bo" Boyle III of Easley and Joseph Foster Boyle and his wife, Mary Don, of Sumter; a daughter, Gena Boyle Reed and her husband, Roger, of Sumter; a sister, Josephine Boyle Tompkins of Columbia; a special friend, Jacqueline Brunson Partin of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Foster Boyle, Beth Boyle, Charlie R. Boyle IV, Briteny Broach, Tyler Broach, Josh Reed, Cassie Reed and Carson Weldon; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Parker Marks officiating. Burial will follow at the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Linn S. Tompkins, Charles B. Tompkins, Dr. R. Sims Tompkins, Joseph P. Tompkins, Keith Kennedy and C.P. Hodge. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son. Memorials may be made to the Holden Beach Chapel, 147 Brunswick Ave W., Holden Beach, NC 28462-2013 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
