| HIST | ROBERT WOODHOUSE BONNEY II Posted Tuesday, September 16, 2025 11:56 am WEDGEFIELD — Robert Woodhouse “Woody” Bonney II, 70, husband of Mary Lamer Bonney, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at his home. Born Oct. 19, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, he was a son of the late Harry H. Bonney Jr. and Ann Wilson Bonney. He was a member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served for three years in the 82nd Airborne Infantry and three years in the 2nd Ranger Battalion Infantry as a special operations armorer. He was employed by Sumter County Department of Corrections, Norfolk Southern Railroad and Caterpillar. Survivors include his wife of 40 years; and two brothers, Harry Bonney III and John Trafton Bonney. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Bonney. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating. Private burial will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
