| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina JOHNNY RAY MIMS Posted Thursday, February 11, 2016 6:00 am Johnny Ray Mims, 61, husband of Effie "Boo" McKenzie Mims, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at his home. Born on April 29, 1954, in Sumter, he was a son of Henry J. Mims and the late Classie L. Geddings Mims. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; father of Sumter; a daughter, Amanda L. Mims of Sumter; and two sisters, Sylvia P. McNair (Kell) of Gable and Barbara S. Elliott of Sumter. He was preceded in death by his mother; stepmother, Frances Strickland Mims; and a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Elliott. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside Outreach Ministries Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to the family. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1, 2] | |
