  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina Ruby O. Mettetal Ruby “Bert” Oxendine Mettetal, 75, widow of Ronald J. Mettetal, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Born in Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Archie Oxendine and Ruby Benenhaley Oxendine. Mrs. Mettetal was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church. She retired from McDuffie Furniture Company. Survivors include three children, Judy McElroy (Mark) and Steve Baker, both of Sumter, and Janet Bayer of Oakland, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Brooke Baker, Kelly Baker, Coby Baker, Caitlyn Mettetal, Lindsay McElroy, Paige McElroy, Alex Bayer, Kirsty Martin and Cassie Bayer; and two brothers, Ernie Oxendine (Lisa) and Tony Oxendine, both of Sumter. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Crosswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Owens and the Rev. Rodney Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her brother, 2640 Goldeneye Ridge.
