Born Aug. 5, 1916, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Judson F. Nicholes Sr. and the late Addie Maybelle Parrish. Mrs. DuBose was a retired telephone operator with GTE telephone company and was a member of First Southern Methodist Church. Surviving are her son, Coit M. DuBose Jr. (Dianne) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Gwyn DuBose-Schmitt (Heinrich) of West Columbia; three grandchildren, H.A. DuBose-Schmitt Jr. (Tara) of Huntsville, Ala., Jarrod DuBose-Schmitt (Michelle) of Sumter and Elinor Leigh Lister (Sean) of Anderson; a sister, Ruth Nicholes of Sumter; a brother, J.F. Nicholes Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; and five great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin N. DuBose, and a sister, Doris Kiker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Southern Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellison Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
