  HIST	Source gives his year of birth as 1750. They lived on Clermont, sometimes written (Clearmont) Plantation at Stateburg, Sumter District, South Carolina. It was later called “Ben yo” by Benjamin Ioor. He was a native of Dorchester, South Carolina. He was said to be the first to plant cotton in South Carolina.  [2, 4]
  MILI	He was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War. COPY OF LETTER FROM WAR DEPARTMENT March 23, 1936 The name George Ioor appears twice in a General Account of disbursements by Edward Carrington, Deputy Quartermaster General for the Southern Army, from December 5, 1780, to Novermber 30, 1781. On August 22, 1781 he was paid $48.48 for sundries as per journal, and on Novermber 30, 1781, he received a specie (special) certificate for $56.45. E. T.
