Pack, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Carl Pack Sr. and the late Theresa Hodge Pack. Mr. Pack was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 15. He retired from Georgia-Pacific in Alcolu. Survivors include: his wife of 66 years; four daughters, Carlette P. Woodcock of Sumter, Ruth P. Clontz (Ricky) of Kings Mountain, N.C., Stella P. Elmore (Russell) of Sumter and Mary P. Shivers (Frank) of Columbia; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey Wadford, Harriett Hodge (Enos) and Jessie Tutton, all of Sumter; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Pack and Sara Pack, both of Sumter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Pack Jr. and Earl Pack; and two sisters, Lila Mae Thames and Elizabeth P. Hodge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Graham Bochman and the Rev. Frank Shivers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Clontz, Mitchell Morris Jr., Greg Morris, Darren Morris, Eric Clontz, Mark Shivers, Russ Elmore Jr., Steven Elmore and Richard McLawhorn Jr. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Camp Fund for Children/Youth, 2445 Old Manning Road, Sumter, SC 29150 or to Longridge Camp and Retreat Center, PO Box 220, Ridgeway, SC 29130.
