He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa During his 39 years in public education, he served as a teacher, principal and superintendent. Before joining the State Department of Education, he was Superintendent of Schools in Marlboro County, South Carolina, for a number of years. Before his retirement in 1988 as Associate Superintendent, Division of Instruction, he held several positions and authored numerous publications at the State Department of Education. He contributed professional articles to the South Carolina Education News and School Management publications. After retirement, he served as an adjunct professor at USC and taught for Central Wesleyan College. He taught the 55/Alive Safe Driving Course for AARP for a number of years. He was an avid antique clock collector and enjoyed repairing old clocks. at death- he is survived by 4 grandchildren and 17 stepgrandchildren of Columbia, South Carolina [3, 5] |
