Land Posted: Tuesday, March 8, 2011 6:00 am Alma Ruth Daniels Land, 84, widow of John Smith Land, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Covenant Place in Sumter. Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Alcolu, she was a daughter of the late William James and Janie Martin Daniels. She was a homemaker, attended Anderson College and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Conway. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Ellen (Richard) Taylor of Manning, Mary Ann Land of Conway and Nancy (Mike) Hodge of Easley; three grandchildren, Melissa Land (Gary) Koenig, Drs. Ryan Wilkes (Virginia) Taylor and Carrie Ruth Hodge (Trae) Murray; and three great-grandchildren, Maya Koenig, Evan Land Koenig and Kateland Taylor. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John William Land; and five brothers, Buck, Bill, Oliver, Harry and Covert Daniels. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Manning Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Vassar officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
