Geddings, 91, widow of Herbert D. Geddings, was transferred to glory on Friday, April 22, 2011, from a local nursing facility. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Geddings and the late Ola Geddings. Mrs. Geddings was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Pioneer Dress. Survivors include a sister, Christina Geddings of Sumter; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Herbert D. "H.D." Geddings and Janie Geddings; three brothers, Levy, Horace and Oscar Geddings; and three sisters, Martha G. Shaw, Essie G. Osteen and Wilma G. Barkley. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Steve Hendricks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of Christina Geddings. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Arise and Build Fund, 2401 Bethel Church Rd., Sumter, SC 29154.
