Morris, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Born in Augusta, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Minnie Gertrude Gillam Buck. She attended Christian Tabernacle Church. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Kay Smith of Charleston and Renee Garcia (Art) of Sumter; three sons, James M. Morris Jr. (Sandy) and Robert E. Hall, both of Sumter, and Richard P. Hall (Lisa) of Texas; nine grandchildren, Tracey Timmons, Craig Hall, Derrick Hall, Travis Smith, David Garcia, Bryan Garcia, Shannon Garcia, Trey Morris and Alicia Morris; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Rushton of Augusta. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Howell; and a sister, Catherine Grubbs. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Mew and the Rev. Vic VanRas officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Crosswell Children’s Home, 11 Crosswell Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
