Born August 5, 1930, in Lexington, NC, he was a son of the late David Lee Jordan and the late Etta Mae Chapman Jordan. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a member of the American Postal Workers Union where he served as former state president and national business agent for the southern region. He was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion Post 15 and Alice Drive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Barbara Wise (John) of Cayce and Chris Smoak (Joey) of Pinewood; a son, Craig Blend (Lisa) of Manning; two brothers, Bob Jordan (Barbara) of Lexington, NC and John Jordan (Patti) of Tullahoma, TN; a sister, Peggy Queen (Jacob) of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren, Amber Jordan, Chase Smoak (Lindsay), Andrew Smoak, Paige Blend and Sam Blend. He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Tony Jordan; a daughter, Antoinette Jordan; a sister, Shirley Jordan; and a brother, Jim Jordan. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith and Rev. Phil Ross officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. H. Alton Jordan, Dr. Dale Cannon, Dr. C. Dorn Smith, the staff of Carolinas Healthcare and Tuomey Healthcare for their loving care and attention and to all those who have prayed, cared for us and assisted us in our time of need.
