Holloway Katherine Porter Holloway, 93, widow of Otis “Junior” Holloway, died on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at McElveen Manor. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Robert Austin and Carrie Savilla Mitchell Porter. Mrs. Holloway was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church, where she served as a former Sunday school teacher. She was a master gardener. She was a retired bookkeeper at Carolina Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Surviving are one son, Lee O. Holloway Sr. (Pat) of Sumter; one daughter, June H. Rikard (George) of Sumter; one brother, Edward Porter of Sumter; five grandchildren, Brian Charles (Dana), Robert Rikard (Allison), Otis Holloway (Sabrina), April Geddings (Chris) and Katie Holloway; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine H. Charles. Private graveside services will be held at Sumter Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Barber and Pastor Rob Porter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor and other times at the home of her son, 311 Lindley Ave. The family would like to thank the staff of McElveen Manor and Tri-County Hospice for their compassionate care.
