TENNANT ALCOLU – Elizabeth Carroll Tennant, 71, wife of Dr. John Boyd Tennant Jr., died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home in Alcolu. Born July 26, 1936, in York County, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Ella Hogue Carroll. She was a retired legal secretary, member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Alcolu and a former member of First Baptist Church in Walterboro. Surviving are her husband of Alcolu; a daughter, Mary Tennant Bleasdale and her husband, Ralph, of Alcolu; a son, John Boyd Tennant III and his wife, Linda Lordo, of Fort Mill; two brothers, Vaughn Carroll and his wife, Marty, of Irmo and Neil Carroll and his wife, Miriam, of Hopkins; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Barton officiating. Burial will follow in DuRant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Flowers, Jack Socha, J.R. Smith, Earl Wooten, Gene Chumley and Wade Warr. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence in Alcolu.
