Ervin was born Jan. 7, 1944, in Cross, a son of Frank and Annie Ruth Timmons Grooms. Surviving are a son, Brian Grooms of Summerville; two daughters, Cathy Grooms Smith of Cross and Teresa Grooms Maxey of Macedonia; and three grandchildren, Vicki Maxey, Brittny Maxey Barry and Logan Smith. A memorial service will be held at noon today at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, with interment following in Black Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel for one hour prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 409 King St., Suite 300, Charleston, SC 29403.
