  From the Records of George Brown, Genealogist of Privateery Township, SC: 1. THE FRANKLIN PIERCE JACKSON FAMILY Franklin Pierce Jackson was born on February 19, 1861. He was the second child of James Timothy and Mary Henrietta Kolb Jackson. Frank's mother died when he was between seven and nine years old. His father married his aunt Anna Cain Kolb by 1870. Frank married Frances Isabella Jackson on _______. FRANCES was born on February 24, 1860. She was the daughter of James Warren and Rebecca Dubose Jackson. Frank's father opposed the marriage. The reasons seem to be either that he believed that FRANK was marrying beneath the family or possibly that FRANCES was FRANK'S first cousin. This would be true if Timothy(I) and Timothy (II) were the same person, resulting in James Warren Jackson and James Timothy Jackson being half brothers. Frank and Frances' first son, Charlie Winfield Jackson, was born on February 17, 1884. That same year, Frank acquired thirty one acres of land from his father bounding on land of his brother, John M. Jackson and his father. Later in the same year, Frank acquired an additional fifty acres from his father bounding on his father and F. MELLETT. Frank's father died the next year on November 11, 1885. The families second child, Irean Elease (Rennie), was born on June 7, 1886. Irene was followed by Rollin Timothy on July 16, 1888, Franklin Harry on August 23, 1890 and Johnny Albert (later Albert Johnny) on September 1892. Frances acquired twenty five acres of land from her father and uncle, Timothy H. Jackson in 1893, bounding on Gaymon, Turner, McCall and Jackson. The infant, Bantor, the families sixth child, was born on February 26, 1894 and died at or shortly after birth. The seventh child, Burther Burlee was born on January 25, 1897 and died one month later on February 28, 1897. On May 1, 1997, Frank bought a forty acre tract of land (later determined to be 49 acres) adjacent to R.M. Cain, Dr. Stuckey, F. MELLETT and WElL from Scott George. Scott had acquired part of the Cain Plantation from Mrs. A. M. Cain on September 20, 1894 and later agreed to sell the tract to Frank. FRANK died pneumonia on _______; before the birth of his last child, WILLIAM SHAFTER. FRANCES never remarried . She raised her family as a widow, increased the size of the farm and weathered the depression with the farm in tact. Frances purchased 64 acres of land from Magdalen H. Wells on January 19, 1901 , increasing her holdings to 113 acres. It was said by many of the businessmen in Sumter that she was as tough a business woman as the toughest men of the time. She died in 1985 of fever brought on by drinking unpasteurized milk".
