Truett Virginia Baker Truett, 75, wife of Carl G. Truett, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1937, in Alcolu, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hamilton Baker and Cora Lee Hamilton Baker. Mrs. Truett was a member of the First Church of God and she was retired from Becton-Dickinson with 16 years of service. Surviving are her husband, Carl Truett; one daughter, Janet (Carmen) Bouyea; three sons, Carl W. (Faye) Truett, Mike (Patty) Truett, and Jody (Wanda) Truett; eight grandchildren, Marty Horne, Dana (Adam) Hill, Jenilyn (Michael) Stevens, Ginger (Tim) Welch, Cody (Amber) Truett, Terry (Christy) Truett, Teresa (Squeaky) Tolson, and Judy Truett; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of Sumter. She was preceded in death by one son, Eddie Truett; two sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Tolson, Eddie Truett, Matt Horne, Harold Truett, Tim Truett, Jay Tolson and Frank Warren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 190 Macy St. Online condolences may be sent to www.sumterfunerals.com.
