Strickland Doris Cromer Strickland, 86, widow of Alderberry "Berry" Strickland, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Asheville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Paul Simpson Cromer and Mamie Belle King Cromer. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Wise Drive Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul Strickland and wife, Cindy, of Dalzell and David Strickland and wife, Maria, of Buford, Ga.; two daughters, Nancy Bell and husband, Stan, of Anderson and Sandy Strickland and friend, Lisa Cuffley, of North Myrtle Beach; one brother, Proc Cromer and wife, Lois, of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Paul Cromer; and two sisters, Vivian Cromer Price and Katherine Cromer Jones. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Wise Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Dearld Sterling officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 695 White Pine Way. Memorials may be made to Wise Drive Baptist Church, 2751 Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150 or to Covenant Place, 2825 Carter Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
