| HIST | RUBY SINGLETON Ruby Singleton, daughter of the late Dave and Lucille Cooke Scott, was born on Sept. 18, 1934, Bishopville. She departed this earthly life on May 17, 2010, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville. She was preceded in death by her son, John Graylin Singleton of Bishopville. Left to cherish her precious memories: a devoted husband of the home, John Singleton; three daughters, Dianne Singleton, Theresa Singleton and Melissa (Leroy) Woods, all of Bishopville; six sons, Richard Singleton and Larry Singleton of the home, Marvin (Carolyn) Singleton of Bishopville, Lee (Diana) Singleton of Columbia, Ralph (Alice) of Sumter and Eddie (Zebina) of Hilton Head; a special daughter of Bishopville, Suie Singleton Boyd; a loving sister, Edna Mickens of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Mason Mickens of Bishopville, Jessie (Mildred) Scott of Roselle, N.J., and Wilton (Martha) Scott of Saginaw, Mich.; and five sisters-in-law, Geneva Jackson and Laura Lee Singleton of Sumter, Amelia (James) Prescott of Ocala, Fla., and Ann S. Cooke of Brooklyn, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church (USA), 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Retha Nelson, moderator, Elder Sharon McCoy, clerk, and the Rev. Dr. Ralph J. Singleton, officiator. The body will be placed in the church at noon for viewing. The family will leave at 1 p.m. from the home, 708 Chatmon St., Bishopville. Funeral service is entrusted to Square Deal Funeral Home in Bishopville. [1] | |
