GRIFFITH Posted Sunday, August 17, 2025 5:47 pm The Rev. James W. “Buddy” Griffith, 81, husband of Sally Glasscock Griffith, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at his home in Sumter. He was a son of the late Johnny W. Griffith and Ora Lee Jones Griffith. A member of Bethesda Church of God, he was a retired manager of Muffler Masters and a retired minister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anna Loveday (Barry) of Columbia; a son, James “Jamey” Griffith Jr. (Chanon) of Sumter; a sister, Brenda Garcia of California; four grandchildren, Jacob Tedder (Ashley), Rachel Tedder (Von), Dr. Aaron Griffith (Dr. Elizabeth Griffith), Peyton Griffith; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. Al Sims officiating. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the church. Burial will be in Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
