Stephenson of Winnsboro. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in 2013 and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2016. She is employed with MUSC. The bridegroom-elect, a resident of Charleston, is the grandson of Mr. Yousel Gilbert Hilsman and the late Mrs. Salley Riley Hilsman of Spartanburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hershey Gould of Chicago. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in 2012, and he is scheduled to graduate from MUSC’s College of Dental Medicine in May. The couple plans a June wedding in Sumter. In their own words Q: How did you meet? A: When we were both students at Clemson University. Q: When did you know your fiance(e) was “the one”? A: It just seemed “right” from the first moment. Q: Tell us about the proposal. A: We went for a walk at sunset on the beach at Edisto, and he proposed while we were walking. The Rev. Angela Halter Marshall officiated the 6:30 p.m. ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Evans James III of Sumter. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. George Coggin James and the late Mr. George Coggin James of Sumter and Mr. Joe John Stephenson and the late Mrs. Alita Tomlinson Stephenson of Winnsboro. She is a 2013 graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in food science and a 2016 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is employed with MUSC as a registered nurse. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey David Gould of Greenville. He is the grandson of Mr. Youel Gilbert Hilsman and the late Mrs. Salley Riley Hilsman of Spartanburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hershey Gould of Chicago. He is a 2012 graduate of Clemson with a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering and a 2017 graduate of MUSC College of Dental Medicine. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The bride’s grandfather, Joe John Stephenson, performed a solo. Organist Clara Temple Williams and trumpeter Kelly Murphy Jokisch also provided music. Maid of honor was Lauren Renee Bordeaux of Charleston. Bridesmaids were Lisa Joy Crabbe, Kristen Batey Self, and Frances Marie Taylor, all of Charleston; Caroline Turner Cromer of Sumter; Anna Lusk DuRant of Murrells Inlet; Salley Virginia Gould, Sarah Rigter Jacobs, and Keaton Virginia Stroud, all of Greenville; Elizabeth Alston James of Columbia; and Katherine Lewis Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina. Best man was John Hilsman Gould of Denver. Groomsmen were William Taylor Brantley, Robert Semmes Gilmore III, and Edward Buck Hagood, all of Atlanta; Frank Prentiss Hammond III, James Durham Hill, and Jeffrey Larry Zimmerman, all of Greenville; John Evans James IV of Honolulu; Peter Joseph Palazola of Memphis, Tennessee; James Chapman Scott of Nashville, Tennessee; and Mark Joel Seals Jr. of Gainesville, Georgia.
