| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina CHARLIE EVENICH Posted Thursday, April 15, 2021 6:00 am Charlie Evenich, age 86, beloved husband of 36 years to Hazel Maroney Evenich, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at NHC Healthcare Born in Dawson, New Mexico, he was a son of the late John and Mary Mytia Evenich. Mr. Evenich served in the U.S. Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic. He retired as a senior master sergeant. He went on to work for and retired from United Insurance in 1995. Mr. Evenich loved to bass fish and was a fishing guide for more than 20 years at Santee. In addition, he was an avid Gamecock fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Evenich was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Elks Lodge, Midlands Retired Military Association and the American Legion. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles J. Evenich and his wife, Jayne, of Sumter and Patrick D. Evenich and his wife, Debbie, all of Sumter; two daughters, Deborah Shade and her partner, Scott Parker, of Dalzell and Charlene Fowler of Jacksonville, Florida; two stepsons, Dr. Michael Dreher and his partner, Michael Danke, of New York, and Donald Dreher and his wife, Shirley, of Sumter; one brother, John Evenich of California; one sister, Dorothy Nelson of California; along with five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors.
