Snyder Jr., 68, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation. Born on Oct. 10, 1952, in Sumter, he was a son of Verna Broadway Snyder and the late Benjamin Marshall Snyder Sr. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother of Sumter; two sisters, Linda S. Veal (Jimmy) of Sumter and Cynthia S. Ballard of Columbia; two nieces, Heidi C. Coursey (Billy) and Heather Collins; great-nieces and nephews, Dalton Coursey, Holden Coursey, Bates McCutchen and Jody O'Connor; great-great-nephews, Owen and Talon O'Connor; and aunts, Helen Mills of Columbia and Ollie Mae Snyder of Manning. He was preceded in death by a niece, Ashley Ballard. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Steve Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sumter United Ministries, 36 S. Artillery Drive, Sumter, SC 29150 or to Grace Baptist Church, 219 W. Calhoun St., Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
