Greenville, SC Henry Lamar Franks, 88, husband of the late Doris Chapman Franks, passed away March 25, 2013. Born in W. Palm Beach, FL, he was the son of the late Henry Rutherford and Jimmie Beers Franks. He served in the US Army, during World War II and then later during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Clemson Ag. College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Lamar was a cost accountant with Sloan Construction Company, retiring after 32 years of service. He was an adult education teacher at Greenville Technical College for 11 years. He was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church. Surviving are his children, Andrea Riddle (Tad), Dr. Marla Franks, Bradley Franks and Brunson Franks; his grandchildren, Heather Henderson (Joshua) and Melissa Riddle; his great grandchildren, Brandon and Haley Henderson; his sisters, Betty Johnson (Cecil) and Miriam Arnold (Ed), and his brother-in-law, John Welter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Franks (Dot); and his sisters, Patricia Williams (Winroe) and Helen Welter Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00am at The Mackey Mortuary, with Dr. Jimmie Harley officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00am - 10:45am at the mortuary.
