- During this Genealogy, I will refer to the Von Hache Papers: About 1950 or thereabouts, there was a Genealogist Wilhelm Von Hache in Sumter South Carolina who was interested in the old estate papers in the Sumter County Courthouse and he began extracting genealogical data from these documents and organizing the information by families. He was joined in the effort by Maynard Davis from Summerton, South Carolina. When Wilhelm Von Hache died, the papers became the property of Mr. Davis. They were then transcribed and typed and filled several large binders. In 1980, Mr. Davis let John Tindal make copies of the papers on the Linam/Lynam families. He says the notes are very brief but seem to be very accurate. Mr. Tindal was kind enough to share these notes with me in July of 2000. I have entered them in this Genealogy and used the same spelling of the names as they were in the original estate papers. It is very interesting that the name changes from Linam to Lynam with great ease. Joan Linam
Maurice migrated to Claremont District in Sumter County , South Carolina prior to the Revolutionary War. I also have dates of his death as late as 1816.
