She is a 2009 graduate of Genoa Area High School in Genoa, Ohio, and a 2010 graduate of The Salon Professional Academy in Perrysburg, Ohio. She is employed by Wesmark Family Dentistry in Sumter. The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell C. Hurst Sr. of Sumter, and Mrs. Lorraine M. Korn and the late Mr. Kenneth R. Korn of Summerville. He is a 2005 graduate of Sumter High School and a 2009 graduate of The Citadel with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
