| HIST | At the Singleton Family Reunion in 2000 George Kay suggested that the Headstone Monument of William Joseph Singleton be replaced. Jackie Hughes called J & J Richardson and it was decided that J & J could replace the old monument for $954.00. At the Singleton Family Reunion in 2001 it was decided to go ahead and replace the monument. The order was placed and the monument was actually ready and put in place on November 15, 2001. There is a verse on the headstone. It reads as follows: “On the margin of the river, Washing up it’s silver spray, We will walk and worship ever, All the happy golden day.” jkh Mr. W. J. Singleton has gone to Walhalla on a visit to his daughter, Mrs. Cross, approximately 9 Jun 1887. He is listed as Colonel W. J. Singleton. At Sumter, S.C. January 18, 1883, by Rev. H.F. Chreitzberg, Mr. George H. Lewis, of Indiana, and Miss Caroline F., youngest daughter of Col. W. J. SIngleton. [5, 6] | |
