- Gobitha was the child of Rowland Powell and Mawd Richard, both born in
Wales, both Quakers, Rowland a young Quaker minister.
Mawd died Feb. 2, 1708 and was buried at Haverford, PA. The couple
married on March 10, 1695 in the Radnor Monthly Meeting, Radnor, PA.
Gobitha was born in Chester County, PA. They shifted their religion to
Presbyterian about the time Edward George and Martha (Woolaston)
George moved to Tennesse.
