Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Jesus Maria Mota and Carmen Carrillo Mota. Mr. Mota was a retired elementary school teacher. Surviving are three sons, Michael Mota of San Diego, California, Joseph Mota (Judy) of Colorado and Daniel Mota (Jennie) of Sumter; four brothers, Howard Mota and Raymond Mota (Jo Ann) of Chicago, Al Mota of Colorado and Edward Mota (Barbara) of Minnesota; and eight grandchildren, Nicholas Mota (Sarah), Brayden Mota (Carlee), Lindsay Mota, Allysa Mota, Courtney Ward (Jake), Michael Mota (Courtnie), Cooper Mota and Majid Corbett.
