Simmons, died on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Jan. 30, 1941, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow and Naomi Troublefield Barrett. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Charles Edward Floyd of Sumter; a brother, J.W. Barrett of Camden; a sister, Louise Johnson of Lee County; and her companion for many years, Troy Louk of Sumter. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Henry Floyd; and four sisters, Evelyn Brown, Sarah Paranto, Virginia McLeod and Mary Poole. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 2445 Old Manning Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
