| HIST | JANIE LYNN LYON ACKERMAN Posted Friday, February 10, 2023 6:00 am Janie Lynn Lyon Ackerman, 78, wife of Harvey Arthur Ackerman Jr., died on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Lexington Meredith Lyon and Louise Humphries Lyon. Mrs. Ackerman was a member of First Baptist Church and previously attended Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the orchestra. She was a retired human resources director at GEO Care. Surviving are her husband of Sumter; a son, John Lexington Kennedy of Columbia; a sister, Cindy Lyon Saylor of Swansea; six grandchildren; a stepson, Harvey Arthur Ackerman III (Mary Elizabeth); and a stepdaughter, Mary Kathryn Weaver (Eric). Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dan Barber officiating. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
