| HIST | JAMES W. RIGBY Posted Thursday, March 29, 2007 8:00 pm James William Rigby, 73, husband of Joella Campbell Rigby, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Eastman, Ga., he was a son of the late Turner C. Rigby and the late Sara Elizabeth Tripp Rigby. Mr. Rigby was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Goodwin Auto Mall after 35 years of service. Survivors besides his wife include two sisters, Molly Ferdon of Jackson, Fla., and Barbara Clements and her husband, Gene, of Fitzgerald, Ga. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Rigby; five brothers, J.T. Rigby, Rayvan Rigby, John Rigby, Revie Rigby and Cliff Rigby; and four sisters, Willa Mae Foster, Geneva Rigby, Jeanette Aldridge and Hattie Evans. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Clay Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Alice Drive Baptist Church, "Build on the Rock" Fund, 1305 Loring Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
