ERVIN WEATHERLY E. Ervin Weatherly, 85, husband of Maude "Susie" Gaynell Geddings Weatherly, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Erasmus Alexander Weatherly V and Tannie McLendon Weatherly. Mr. Weatherly was a member of the First Church of God. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a retired commercial construction inventor. He was also a member of American Legion Post 15. He was twice married, first to the late Babette LeFlore Weatherly. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; three sons, Ervin Harwood Weatherly of Sumter, Clark Weatherly of Myrtle Beach and Whitney Weatherly of Sumter; one daughter, Linda Babette Weatherly of Columbia; one brother, Gene Weatherly of Sumter; one sister, Lillian Revannaugh of Athens, Ga.; one stepson, Bennie Ridgill of Sumter; one stepdaughter, Jeannie Jones of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Weatherly and Hubert Weatherly; and one sister, Helen McGee. The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
