| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina EDWARD W. DAVIS Posted Tuesday, August 1, 2017 6:00 am Edward Warren Davis, 91, husband of the late Carolyn Britton Davis, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017. Born in Sumter, he was son of the late Waterman J. and Ada Watson Davis. E.W. was a retired electrician, having worked for both Mills Electric Co. and Smith Electric Co. for years. He was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Miller of Sumter; a son, Warren Davis Jr. (Karen) of Little Mountain; four granddaughters, Kerri Oxendine (Todd), Amy Partin, Kristin Shealy (Brad) and Haley Miller; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer New; a great-grandson, Britton Cain; and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Hill. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Knowlton, Russell, Thomas, Hubert and W.J. "Dub" Davis; and two sisters, Artemis Thames and Leona Poole. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve McCormick and Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. today prior to the service at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Elaine Miller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jodi Belinski and Amanda Hipp as well as Amedisys Home Health Care and Amedisys Hospice Care for their kindness and compassionate, ever present care.
