MARGARET C. STRANGE
COLUMBIA -- Margaret Leslie Cubbage Strange, 86, went to Paradise on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007.
Born in Sumter, Sept. 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Allen Cubbage and the late Mary Kolb Cubbage. Mrs. Strange was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, the Rev. Russell L. Strange of Columbia; children, Russell (Carol) L. Strange Jr. of Cresson, Pa., Doris (Wayne) Covert of Columbia and William (Carolyn) A. Strange of Conyers, Ga.; two sisters, Inez Mathis and Virginia Stafford, both of Sumter; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Rudolph and James Cubbage, and sisters, Onie Stack and Hattie Butt.
Answering God's call, Margaret showed her love of little children, having taught kindergarten for more than 20 years. A devoted wife and mother, she truly followed Christ's teachings, always putting the needs of others ahead of self.
The family sincerely thanks Regency Hospice, the Rice Home staff and all of Mother's caregivers, especially Bettye, Rosetta, Margaret, LaKeisha, Pat and Gerry, for their skilled and loving care.
A memorial service will be scheduled at the Rice Home in Columbia at a time to be announced.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Harold P. Greene Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church or to the Rice Home, both in Columbia.
