BRUNSON ALCOLU -- James Wesly Brunson, 76, husband of Ann Lumpkin Brunson, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. Born May 6, 1928, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harry S. Brunson Sr. and the late Sarah Jeanette Pringle Brunson. He was first married to the late Lois Hodge Brunson and then to the late Jackie Wylie Brunson. He was retired from Manning Tractor Co. after 40 years, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Williams-Burgess Post No. 68, VFW, and a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Alcolu. Surviving besides his wife of Alcolu are a son, Mark Alan Brunson of Alcolu; a daughter, Sandra B. (Hank) Edens of Dalzell; daughter-in-law, Kathy R. Brunson of Alcolu; two stepdaughters, Vicki (Drew) Lofton of Myrtle Beach and Linda (David) Neely of New Port Richey, Fla.; two stepsons, Charles (Patti) Wylie of West Virginia and Plowden Nelson of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Harry S. Brunson Jr., of Sumter; two sisters, Carolyn B. Haley and Sarah R. Brewer, both of Sumter; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wesley Brunson. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in New Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John R. Dodd officiating. Burial will follow in Brunson Cemetery in Sumter County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 9714 U.S. 301, Alcolu. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Midstate S.C. Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202-7044 or to a charity of one's choice.
