On Nov. 17, 1948, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. He served in the Supply and Logistics positions for 26 years at locations all over the world, including Alabama, New Mexico, Iceland, South Carolina, Italy, Germany, Nevada, Greece and Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1974. His military honors include the bronze star and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm for service in Vietnam.
